People in the UK 'worried about costs of going green'
People across the UK are refusing to make changes to make their homes greener because they think it will be expensive, according to new research.
A study by Norwich and Peterborough Building Society (N&P) has found that many people are in support of becoming more energy efficient, but are concerned that the installation of solar panels and wind turbines to power their homes will be expensive.
Commenting on the research, Hockleys Professional's managing director Richard Lloyd said that, despite some negativity, the study's findings were "encouraging".
He explained: "Although it is encouraging that people are happy to back the government's zero-carbon homes commitment, it's sad to see that they're not so keen to make a difference using their own properties
"Although adding green features to your home may seem like additional cost, you need to remember that you can make a difference with simple, relatively cheap methods such as energy-saving light bulbs or improving insulation."
The research by N&P has come after the Fair Investment Company claimed that UK homeowners should not find becoming energy efficient "a struggle".
